THE HOLIDAY. Large crowds of excursionists eame* l» Lyttelton by the morning trains yesterday, to spend the day across the harbour. Shortly aft*!r nine o'clock, however, it became evident that rainy weather would prevail, end the disappointed holiday-makers returned to tho city. Preparations had been made by. •, the numerous launch-owners for the convey- ( ance of a largo number of excnraionisH to the. harbour resorts, and an exceptionally busy day waa anticipated. When the rain lifted,' a number of Lyttelton people, and those from tho city who had remained in port, in tho hope that the rain would cease, made the best of their interrupted out ins, many visiting Diamond Harbour, Corsair Bay, and other places. A special matinee session at the Harbour Light Picture .Thta&e was well attended.
