Mr J. Murray Smith lias retired from the position of editor and managing director of the "Glasgow- News," ■which ho took over from tho former proprietors in ISOO, and which ho has edited for 34 years. Mr Murray Smith retains his financial interest in paper and remains a director. Mr Xeil Munro, LL.D., tho novelist and journalist, who is already on tho Bosrcr. has been appointed editor.
