¥ CHEVIOT. The Cheviot County Council met on Saturday. Present—Councillors T. G. Gee (chairj man), G. L. Rutherford, J, H. L. Hiatt, O. j .Barnes, and T Stevenson. | The chairman moved, and Cr. Hiatt sooonded a vote of sympathy with Mr Jackson in his serious illness, Mr Skinner wrote, that (the footbridge over the creek near# his house had. been > washed away by the late flood*—Hatter to be itj tended to. I _ The Whangarei County Council wrote, eak- ' ing to be supported in a protest against settling soldiers on poor land.—Received. The Hospital and Charitable 'Aid Board wrote, stating that the ' Minister of Publio Health had refused to sanction a grant of £60 towards- the Cheviot Medical Subsidy • Fund. 1 Dr. Chesson, District Health Officer, wrote regarding sanitation of the McKenzie town- ; chip. Alter consideration, the chairman un-; j dertook to interview Dr. Chesson in Christi church. j A number of applications for the position - of second teamster. were, received and that' of Mr McCarthy was accepted. ! The clerk woe to inform Mr * Laugesen that' the pipes in front of his shop were not large enough to cany off the rain water. It was resolved to pay sixpence per dozen for birds' heads during the months of May, June, July, August, and September in each year. !• =====
