MONEY CLUB.

CHRISTCHURCH AND ST. ALBANS. The annual general meeting of the Christchurch and St. Albana Money Club wae held last evening, the president, Mr J. Evans, presiding over a fair attendance. The fifty-second half-yearly report vraa as follows:—The capital of the Society is £47,554 14s 7d, an increase of £102 13s ad during the half-year, and £1843 63-8 d for 'he year. Loans amounting to £2413 were granted during the half-year. The total amount lent to date is £217,720 ISo Bd. The nrofft and loss acoount shows a credit of £1490 93 7d. ' Your committee recommends a dividend as follows:—(1) On all amounts standing to members' credit on June 80th, tip to £100, the sum of 7d in the £ on each complete 10s; (2) On all amounts standing to the credit of members on June 30th in excess of £100, the sum of 7d in the £ on each comploto 103 on the first £100, and 5 per cent, per annum on the balance on each complete 10s. There are 952 members holding 5401 shares, a decrease of 4 members and 16 shares during the last 6 months. In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, the chairman referred to the death of the late president, Mr J. Thornton.. Ho expressed his sympathy to the relatives of those members 'of the Society who had made the supreme- sacrifice, and to all who had suffered loss. Ho congratulated the Society that during these strenuous times it had teen enabled to go along in almost its usual way, although ho regretted that 'he advances to members were not so numerous as in normal times. There was not such a great increase in capital, owing to the fact that more had been withdrawn than oaid ro dftring the last half-year. At the same time, more than £1000 had been paid off -general loans. The profit of the Society, however, had remained about the same, and th©_ committee recommended the usual dividend. There had been an increase in small loans, and he urged on members' to use their best endeavours to point out the advantages of the Sooiety. The report and balanc>«heet were adopted. A special vote of was passed to the office staff.
