MAGISTERIAL.
(Before Mr T. A. B. Bailey, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. Two male first offenders and one lomale -were convicted and fined 5s each. LICENSING ACT BREACH. Joseph Kirner pleaded guilty to being illegally on licensed premises, and was fined 40s. MILITARY SERVICE ACT. Ernest G. Falkingham, who had failed to notify his change of address to the authorities, was fined 20s. THEFT. Mary Martyn (Mr Hunter) pleaded not guilty to a charge of the theft ot goods valued at' 4s, the property ot John T. Haughton. Accused was convicted and lined 40s. ASSAULT. Francis Smith, a married man (Mr Cassidy;, pleaded not guilty to charges of assaulting two girls 12 and 13 years of age respectively. Accused, was fined 20s and costs on each charge. INDUSTRIAL CASES. J. Souper (Mr Cassidy) pleaded not guilty to a charge of emploj'ing a, sculleryman at the Clarendon Hotel, and not giving him the holidays ho >as entitled to. A fine of £1 was inflicted. T Armstrong and Co., Ltd. (Mr Beswick), were charged with employing a soft goods assistant and paying her a sum under the award wages. A fine of 20s was imposed. (Before Messrs K. Mathieson and 11. S. McKcnzie, J.IVs.) FORGERY. Elizabeth Cullen (Mt Cuninghara; pleaded guilty to forging tho name of M. A. Dunlea to an allotment order for £8 Bs. Accused was committed for sentence to the Supreme Court. ALLEGED THEFT. Peter Joseph Hanley (Mr Hunter) jpleaided not guilty to a charge of breaking and entering the business premises of Arthur Browning and stealing therefrom goods (boots) to the value of £15 16s. After hearing the evidence accuscd was committed for trial at the nest sitting of the Supreme Court.
