AKAROA-WAINUI ROAD BOARD
A meeting of the Akaroa-Wtunui Road Board was held at Duvauchello on Saturday. Present —Messrs T. TV. Wilkins, D. McKay, R. Peitigrew, and W. Warner. In tho absence of the chairman, Mr Geo. Armstrong, Mr Pet tig row was voted to tho chair. The Peninsula Technical Association wrote asking for a grant in aid of the claeeea. Tho sum of £10 was voted. Tho chairman reported that, in company with Mesa 1-8 Wilkins and McKay, he had interviewed the County Council with respect to tho xipkeep of the road grader. It had been agreed that two m-mbers each from tho Council and the Board should confci as to an equitable assessment of the charges. Messrs Pettigxew and Wilkins were deputed to represent the Board. It was resolved to metal the Wainui, old Pigeon Bay, and Okain's Bay roads, and to make some repairs near the bridge on tho Piper's Valley road. \Vith respect to the proposed new bridge at Wainui, Mr Wilkins reported that, with the enhanced price of building timber, tho cost would be at least £100. It was decided to make application to tho Lyttelton Harbour Board for some suitable eecond-hand timber which, if procurable, would answer the purpose. •Ii was resolved that tho Board inspect the Hikory and Pan a Bay road® on Saturday, ajd that one of the foremen bo instructed to. report upon the 6tate of the main road from Wainui to Barry's Bay.
