LOYAL PERSEVERANCE LODGE. At the fortnightly meeting of tbe Loyal Perseverance Lodge. 1.0.0. F., M.U., N.G. Bro. Le Co into presided. Sick pay due' to several brothers was passed for payment. The Education Board wrote expressing approval of the Society's proposal to give certificates for best essays on "Kindness to Animals" to bo competed for by children in country schools. Tho inspector's report, which detailed numerous minor activities, and statod that he had warned several people against leaving their horses in paddocks at night without proper shelter, was received. ELMWOOD SCHOOL COMMITTEE. At the monthly meeting of tlie Elmwood School Committee. Miss Lockwood was appointed assistant- mietre-s. The corcert in oid of tho School Red Cross Funds realised the sum of £17. Mr Hart, the organiser, was accorded a hearty vote of thanks, also Messrs Strange air.l Co., ar.d Messrs Webley. .Sons and Gofton. Tho headmaster reported that tbe roll number was 698, and the average attendance 5G6. Tho Younc; Helpers' League had raised £16 6s 10d during the half-year. The chairman was appointed to interview the Education Board in reference to having tho school grounds properly laid out. It was dccided to call a householders' meeting, and place lwfore it the report on tho Educational Institute circular. Messre Jones, Baxter, and Mosrridgo were appointed a sub-committee to 6ubmit,a report to tho householders ou the improvements needed to tho school.
