At the quarterly meeting of the East rtcH Methodist Circuit, the Kov E P presided. A very' satisfactory was presented. The income for the ™«rS was £382 14s 9d. Sister Annie read a short paper on "Young People's S<£ p. ctie ?; Roberts was appointed Mission secretary. The Kov. \V; Walker, who has been appointed secretary to the Canterbury Military Committee urged the necessity of rcgu: a r remittances being, sent to the Chaplains' Fond. In response to his appeal £19 was promised in the room-with good support throughout tho circuit. Mr W. E. Lead'.oy was appointed treasurer of tho Fund It was agreed to support the appointment of a visiting hospital chaplain. Tho meeting: pledged its support to the effort now being launched to carry national prohibition with' compensation. The recommendation of the School Servioo Union to observe August 25th as Citizens' Sunday was agreed to.
