THE ALIEN QUESTION.
INTERNMENT DEMANDED. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Coprri^ht) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON. July 13. A mass meeting in Trafalgar square passed a resolution demanding that all aliens of enemy blood should be immediately interned, and also the removal of such aliens from every Government and public officc. Protests were also made against the inadequacy of the Government's proposals. The meetincr refused to hear Mr E. Prycn-Jones, M.P., who declared that the Government's proposals would go a lonsr way to settle the matter. The Nation.'il Federation of DischirEod and Demobilised Sailors and Soldiers marched in procession from tho Thames Embankment to Ilyde Park, with banners inscribed "Intern them all." and "Comb them out." demanded increased allowances for disabled men, and larger pensions for dependants. LONDON. July 14. The "Globe"' and tho "Doily Despatch" strongly support; Mr Hughes's appointment, with plenary* powers, to deal with the alien question.

Four thousand Germans are still at liberty in China, and there appears to be no prospect of their deportation to Australia, though China established a bureau for that purpose.
