George Llovd Evans ivas fined 5s m default 24 hours' imprisonment for drunkenness, and was remanded till to-day, on a chaigo of the theft of a cheque for £4. FAILING TO REGISTER. Edward Ralph Martin, an American, was fined 10s for failing to register under the Registration of Aliens Act. It was stated that defendant thought the Act applied only to alien enemies. CIVIL BUSINESS. Judgment, by default, was given va the following civil cases: P. and V. Duncan, Ltd. r. Basil Wilkinson, ±4 7s Gd; International Harvester Co.or N.Z Ltd. v. Mark E. Williams, lis 8d; 'same v. Violet S. Harding £24 14s 9(1 Thomas Jones v. Arthur Edwara Clarke, £4 2s 8d; Homebush Brick and Coal Co., Ltd. v. John Merrick, £1 6s; C. and J. Bell, as Bell Bros. v. G. G. Compton, £40 19s 4d; N.Z.rmd Ageueies. Ltd. v. W. Cronm, £~o 10 , same v. J. J. Delargy. 12s (costs only); same v. J. Hogan, 12s: Mason, Strutters and Co., Ltd. v. Frank Sucock, £10 18s 7d. DEFENDED CASES. Andrew James Burley, carrying on business under the style or firm of A. J. Burley and Co., for whom Jlr J. M. Williams appeared, sued Albert Robert Green (Mr Acland) for £65 m Tespect of motor tyres alleged to nave been retained by defendant. Defendant coun-ter-claimed for £28 4s, balance of pay> etc., alleged to be duo After hearing evidence his Worship reserved bis decision. , . , Lavinia James (Mr Hoban) claimed from the executors of the estate of Mary Barrett, deceased (Mr Alpers) £29 ss, being 19 weeks and 4 days attendance on the deceased at £1 lUs per week. Judgment -was given for defendants without costs, defendants not asking for such.
