COUNTY COUNCILS.
ItANGIORA.
The Rangiora County Council met on Friday. Present —Messrs F. Horrell (chairman), M. H. Stokee, H. Tallott, W. Stalker, and A. Mclntceh.
Permission was granted Mr J. K. CryseJl to remove a building at Cuet to a new site. The chairman was authorised to sign a deed securing to the Public Works Department the payment of expenditure on the electrical reticulation in the county.
The Noxious Weeds Inspector wrote in reference to blackberry in the drain fronting Charles's land.
An application wae received from the Canterbury Progress League for financial support to the amount of £34. A motion was passed expressing sympathy with the objects of the League, but consideration of payment of the levy was held over till the next meeting. permission was given Messrs S. ftielson. ' Murphy, and Minohington* to _ cut willows along the Main and No. 1 drains. The Council heartily supported a sngges- ; tion from the Wh&ngarei County Council that | the Commissioner of Craws Lands supply par- j ticulats of lands set apart for settlement by . returned soldiers, so , that enquiry could be ' made by men acquainted with local condi- • tions as to whether such lands were suitable ■ far the purpose. A motion to strike a general rate of five-} eighths of a penny is the pound on the oapi- ' tal value of all the property in the county was j carried. j
It was resolved to construct concrete bridges j over the' fords on the Oxford road opposite j Mr W. Guy's place, asd at Dockey creek. It was decided to arrange a conference with j the Kaiapoi Borough Council regai-iing tho [ Cam bridge. I The receipts for the month were £90 12a sd, ! and the bank credit balance £1292 14s GcL •
