APPEAL FOR SOCKS.
Her Excellency Lady Liverpool has Issued the following appeal:— "Auckland, Julv 3rd, 1918.—Dear Fellow-workers, —We are anxious to have more hand-knitted socks to rend to the men who are fighting for ns at the front. _ I am appoaling to everyone to knit at least one pair, and to send them to the Lady Liverpool depot. If everybody did this there would bo no lack of socks. In order to try and gather in the socks I propose offering two prizes: (1) A silver trophy to th» branch or Guild or working bee wh» sends in the largest number of hanJknitted socks by a certain date. Ih® priz»s to be voted by the winning Society to .its most deserving . member. (2) An illustrated book to the individual who sends in the number of socks (either made by herself or collected from friends).—Yours ain» ccrely (Signed) Annette Liverpool."
