WARNING BY AUTHORITIES

An advertisement inserted in a, Gisborne paper by a land agency has come under tho notice of the authorities, who have issued a warning to reservists in respect to the inducements hold out by the advertisement.

At yesterday's meeting of the Second Canterbury Military Service Board tho chairman (Mr H. W. Bishop) read a letter from Mr J. D. Gray, secretary of the Recruiting Board, forwarding- copy of an advertisement in the "Gisborne Times," which the Minister in charge of Recruiting would be giad to have public reference made to by the chairinap, warning; reservists that the acquisition of a farm under such conditions would not he sufficient to sepure their exemption from military BQrv ; ice. ' I may say,'.': ho julded,. '"it is proposed to ask tho Crown Law Office to consider the Question of prohibiting advertisements of this kind by war regulations.

J. Malley, Tho public, Mr Bishop said, would see the object the Board had in drawing attention to the matter. Ho warned reservists thatthoy had bettor be careful in buying land in this way because it would not help them.
