Mr W. Uru, M.P., returned to Christchurch by the express last evening from th-j South.

Mr J. Hooton, manager of the New Zealand Foderated Farmers' Co-op. Association, left Christchurch yesterday.

Sorgeant-Major A. W. Halley, Chief Records Clerk at the Defence Office in Dnnedin, is under orders to remove to Christchurch to take charge here of the records of tho sick and wounded.

On Thursday afternoon, at .2.30, a monument to tho memory of the late Rev. Frank W. Isitt, the well known prohibition leader, will bo unveiled in the Linwood cemetery, when a number of thoso who worked with tho late Mr Isitt will bo present.

At the Now Zealand Glue Company's works yesterday, Private Bert Sutton, who is down on final leave, was presented with a wristlet watch by his fellow-employees and a cheque by the directors. The presentations were mad© by the managing director, Mr C. C. Davis.

Lieutenant A. Bongard, the second of two brothers to receive the Military Cross, is the youngest son of the late Captain Bongard, whose widow resides at Devonport, Auckland. He was educated at the Devonport public school and the Auckland Grammar School, When he enlisted he was a divinity student at St. John's College. He gained his commission at Trentham, and left with the 15th Reinforcements. The other brother, Lieutenant J. R. Bonigard, received the Military Cross in 191<5 for leading a small party against an enemy battery, killing a gun team, and damaging a gun. Both brothers were keenly interested in the Bov Scout movement, Lieutenant J. R. Bongard being scoutmaster of Devonport No. 3 troop, and his brother sergeant-major.
