TATTEBSALL'S HORSE BALE.

Messrs H. Mateon and Co. had an entiy of 11 horses on Saturday. The quality all round wa« mixed, and no high prioee were recorded, but a useful demand existed for any horses showing signs of being ready to ■work. Among the sales were:—For G. _F. Ferguson (Cashmere),' aged gelding ill ss; client, eii-year-old maxe £15; G. Menaon (Ohoka), fiv-e-year-old mare £13 20e; client, haniees gelding £11; H. Strang (Amberley), eeven-year-old gelding £14; client, seven-year-old niaro £10, four-year-old gelding £11 lfts; H. HetSeld (Calvordon), six-year-old gelding £18. Several aged draught® sold at frr«m £6 to £9 10s. Hacks and harness horses Bold at lute rates. SATURDAY'S POULTRY MARKET. Messrs J. B. Merrett and Co. had a good entry of poultry or Saturday, when there was a good demand. All claeees of birds realised good values. Prime birds were in special demand. Table chickens 4a to Pe, hens 3s 6d to 6e, ducks 5s to 7s 6d, gees» 6s to 9s, pullets 8s 6d to 103, turkeys 8s to 235, all per pair. EGG MARKET. The supply of eggs has fallen off about 25 por cent. There is a general rif» of 3d a dozen. Canterbury Egg Circle quote first grades 2s, eooonds la lCd, duck eggs la 10d. 1 DUVAUCHELLE STOCK SALE. The monthly stock sale at Duvanchelle on Friday was characterised by a large yarding of fat cattle, easier prices, and a number of lines passed in, results duo, in a large measure, to the wintry weather experienced lately. Thero was a very email entry of stores and springers, while no calves were forthcoming. Chief prjcea realised ranged as under:—

Fat steers £17 17s 6d to £31 fat cows £11 7o Gd to £13 12s fid, fat nedfera £10 2e 6d to £15, two-year-old stores £5 10s to £3, springera £10 15s to £13, dry oowb £9 to £11 10s.

THE PROPERTY MARKET, Jones, MoCrootie Co., Ltd., sold at their rooms on Saturday a property in Wordsworth stroot, Sydenham, consisting of a quarteracre section and a house of 5 rooms, to Mr W. Lceajy for £220.

At the Ashburton land sala on Saturday the Notional Mortgage and Agenoy Company, Ltd., offered, on account of the Aehbuston Agricultural and Pastoral Association, 18 acres situated in the TinwaJd Tows Board District, in clow proximity to tho Tinwald caleyards, Tho National Mortgage and Agency Company became the purchasers at £25 10a per acre.

ASHBURTON. Wheat—Practically nothing is now on offer, and from all appearances the season is finished, tnd very few further supplies will be available from this district for the rest of the year, Oats—The position remains unchanged. Very few oats of any description are being offered by growers, while merchants are not showing any anxiety to increase their stocks. Shipping l business is beinj supplied, from southern ports, and the local trade is more or less of a retail nature. Quotations are nominally unchanged.

Chaff—The recent snowstorm has caused an enquiry' for straw chaff, mangolds, end like fodder, but this ia not having any effect on th» market, as in any case no cutting or delivering can be done at present. Values may be quoted as unchanged.

DOMINION CEMENT COMPANY, LTD.

The hearing of the petition before the Supreme Court at Auckland, for the compulsory winding-up of the Dominion Cement Company is set down for the 11th irrat., but will be, probably, adjourned till the 15th. For the petitioning shareholders Mr C. P. Skerrett, K.C., with him Mr A. F. Wright (of Messrs Duncan and Cotterill, Christchurch) have been retained. Mr Wright left for Auckland at the end of last week. It is anticipated that tho hearing of the petition will afford an opportunity for a full investigation into the affairs of tho company. There are about 160 shareholders in the company in Canterbury.

A large entry of sundries were cleared.

Saturday's poultry sale—Only fair entry. Hens, 3s 9d to •5s 6d: ducks, 5s Ed to 6s; roosters, 4s Gd to 6s 8d; small cockerels, 3s 3d to Is 2d, Claridgo and Smith. 1

MINING. WAIHI-PAEROA CO. (press association telegram.') AUCKLAND, July 6. For tho period ended June 29th, ,tho WaihiPaeroa Company treated 11,800 tonß of tail, inga, for bullion valued at £2000, compared with the corresponding period last year, when 13,200 tons yielded £4650. The total for the six months is £19,050, compared with £20,750 last year. The total amount won by the company is £273,061.
