Replying to a representative of The Press"" on Saturday evening. Sir William Fraser, Minister of Public Works, remarked that he had not yet any definite information as to the probable date upon which the headings in the Arthur's Pass tunnel would meet. The Minister did not expect that he woukt be able to make any definite statements as to when the public function m connexion with the matter would be held till aftor the end of the present month. It would be necessary, he added, to put a drill through a certain distant m order to ascertain if the two headings were in line, and-, if not, to make tho necessary rectification.
