MR HERBERT HOOVER.
A "BIG" MAN.
Among the big men which this mighty war has found or developed, is Mr Herbert Hoover, who in the early days of the war did such grand work on behalf of the poor starving Belgians and who is now doing splendid work in organising and increasing the food supplies from America and the Allies.
He says: "Do not make the mistake of thinking that the coming of peace will at once solve the food supply problem. It will not. Many people are under this dangerous delusion. When peace comes the world must still look to America (and tbe colonies) for food. So plant in garden and field. Plant for yourself, plant for the nation, plant for the Allies. Every pound of vegetables you raise serves these purposes: First, you save your money; second, you save meat and wheat for others whose need is greater; third, you Bave money for your country." Dig and keep well should be our motto this coming season. If you plant Cooper's Seeds, the "Seeds of Success," according to the directions given in their gardening books, yon will be helping on "the work. * We are confident the people of New Zealand will use every effort to increase our supplies this year.
