MEETING OF THE BOABD.
Tho monthly meeting of the Board of the Now Zealand Trotting Association was held last evening. Present—Messrs P. Selig (President), J. A. Sampson, W. J-Hop kins, W. H. Denton, C. F. Mark, J. H William©, and H. F. Nicoll. . , - An apology for absence woo received from Mr B. W. Short. . _ , On tho motion of the president, the Board, expressed its sympathy .with Mr Waiter Armstrong, secretary of the bouth Wairarapa Trotting Club, in the bereavement he had sustained by the death of his son at tho kAbetter was received from Mrs Lattimore, widow of the late Mr George Lattunore, tilting the Board for its generous grant ol £50. A letter was read from the president of the Gore Trotting Club expressing appreciation of the Board's action in this matter. He stated that the Board had acted generously, and rightly so, as the case was a most doscrvuiff ODO, The Canterbury Park Trotting CJub forwarded the evidence taken at a meeting of stewards held to consider a report from the starter that F. Holmes, driver of Admiral Wood in the King George Handicap, had started before his time. The Btarter stated i that ho considered the offence unintentional, as Holmes had done his best to keep back I his horse. The stewards decided to take no action, and their decision was endorsed. The South Wairarapa Trotting C.ub forwarded minutes of the meeting of the Judicial Committee held to deal with a report from the starter that L. Wadham, rider of Agesimos, and J. MoDonald, rider of Little Jewel, had started belore time in the Birthday Handicap. It had been decided to warn tho riders, and the club s decision was endorsed, the riders to bo cautioned as provided by the rules. ... , , Tho same club's Judicial Committee nad had to deal with a protest entered by H. M°Nae, rider of Elmo, Jun., againet the first horse, Zita, in the Birthday Handicap, on the ground that he ran inside a post. The protest was dismissed, and the club's action was endorsed , Mr W. G. Garrard, stipendiary steward, reported that D. O Jones, whose iipense had been suspended by the Forbury tark Trotting Club, had been present at the Ashburton Trotting Club's Meeting on June 13th. It was decided to call upon Jones for an explanation of his action. The Forbury Park Trotting Club wrote agreeing to the removal of the name of M. T. Heads from the Unpaid- Forfeit List. tho Tahuna Park Trotting Club, and Heads, who recently returned from the front, wounded, after a consideiab'o period of service, ha,d asked the Board to have his nam© removed, tbo application having been forwarded by tho Board to the Eorbury Park Club. _ The action of the executive in passing the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club s nrosnramme for August 14th and 16th, and till conditions of the New Zealand Cup to be run on November 6th, was endorsed.
