SECOND DIVISION LEAGUE.
• A meeting of the executive of the Christcliurch Second Division League was hold on Tuesday. Present: Messrs H S J Goodman (in the chair), Allen, Arlow, Dacre, Fair, ffiles, Hamict, Jubb, Moore, Staniland, and rurn- \ bull (secretary). The chairman reported that "she League had opened an office in Here- . ford street for the purpose of attend--1 ing to the welfare of reservists, their wives and dependants. A special" committee was set_ up_ to re-draft Che rules and constitution, while a Finance Committee was also set up. . , , ~ It was decided that letters should be sent to all the members of the National Cabinet, calling their attention to certain injustices that reservists are at present suffering, and asking the Cabinet to take immediate steps to remedy them. It was agreed that the Government be asked to set up a competent tribunal to review all cases of financial assist 1 ance already dealt with, with a view to bringing' all such grants up to an amount that will ensure a reasonable standard of comfort to dependants. It was also to urge the Government to enqnire into the general administration of the Financial Assistance Board and as to its power of coping; with the volume of business placed before it.
