DEALING WITH SEDITION. (By o»bl«.—Preys Association.—Copyright J SYDNEY, July I. Mr Holman (New South Wales State Premier), addressing the first conference of the National Association, said that the Government intended to introduce a more effective law-to deal with sedition. Fines and imprisonment were useless. The punishment proposed was to disqualify offenders from holding any public position— whether municipal or political—for life. SYDNEY, July 1. Ernest Jull, one of the leaders of tbe extremist section of the Labour Council, has been committed for trial on three charges of dislovalty. SYDNEY, July 2. The National Conference passed a motion urging preference to soldiers and their children in Stato employment, ond debated a motion calling for a reforendum to be held at an early date on the advisability of reducing the number of members of the State Parliament. The forthcoming Estimates include £100.000 to raise school teachers' salaries from a minimum of £132 to £156. Tn view of this and other new expenditure further taxation may be anticipated. but the form it will take has not yet been decided. BRISBANE, July 2.
