WAR IN THE AIR.
ENEMY POSITIONS ATTACKED. * (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) ■/ LONTXSN, Juno 30. The Air Ministry reports:—• "An enemy aerodrome at Frescaty was attacked on Friday evening. Tho bursts were not observed owing to the bad visibility. "We mad© a, very successful attack on a large_ aniline and alkali works in Mannheim on Saturday, and in spito of unfavourable weather dropped many heavv bombs. Six bursts were observed on the factory "Five hostile machines attacked our formation over our objective, and we drove down three, two of wnich were out of control. All our aeroplanes returned." LONDON, June 29. Sir Douglas Haig's aviation report states: — "There was much air fighting on June 28th. The enemy machines showed considerable activity. We shot down 17, and drove down six out of control. Three of our machines are missing. "Our airmen and our balloons cooperated with the artillery in engaging batteries and shelling dumps, with good destructive effect, causing a great number of explosions and fires "We dropped twenty-two tons of bombs in the daytime, and fourteen and a half tons in the night time on various targets."
