CASUALTIES.
The Ashburton police reccivod advice from the Longbeach Homcstoad yesterday morning, that a man named Charles McNern, aged 60 yoara had been found drowned in a creek near tho men's quarters, at 6 a.m. McNern had been employetl bv Mr John Origg on the Longbeach Estate for a considcrablo tune. He was last seen alive the previous evening by a fellowemployee. The creek only contained a few inches of water.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TKLEGUAM.) OAMaRU. Julv 1. An eldeny woman named Mrs Barry whose husband is in the North Isljind was found dead this morning at her home, where she was living alone. As she had not been seon since Tuesday, the police entered the house. The woman had apparently bled to death through the bursting of a varicose vein The indications were that she had been dead for several days.
