THE WEATHER
SNOW IN THE COUNTRY. Yesterday was one of the coldest and most unpleasant days experienced this winter. After a hard frost in the morning a keen sou'-west wind set in, and during the afternoon rain commenced to fall and continued all night. At R-angiora three inches of snow fell, the fall being the heaviest for six years. Snow also fell in the Methven district, two inches being recorded.
