Overton, together with a sweepstakes of £25 for the 16 dogs event was decided in a prompt and satisfactory manner. A feature i of the meeting waa the able manner in which the honorary judge, Mr B. abjudicated, and also the accurate way in which the hon. slipper, Mr E. Short, despatched the dogs. The onerous duties of the hon. see., Mr T. Beid, of Christchurch, were carried out with every satisfaction. In the' final of the Cup, Mr W. Goodall's black bitch Quickstep won decisively from the Methven-owned-red dog Gold Boy, who throughout the meeting ran very solid counts. The winner of the event hails from Winion, and - the decisive wwtm»t in which she handled her game suggested further successes. - .The Cup was completed early is the day, enabling a seven dog* supplementary stakes to he nm. In thia event several fine «ouaee resulted, especially in the final* in which -Beauty sod the Dunedin-owned. dog Croix d'Or, participated, the contestants being l neok and neck throughout the course. Tho former eventually got the flag. A social gathering was held on Saturday evening, ai which the cup was presented, to Mrs Goodall, who received it on behalf of her husband. .
