THE ITALIAN THEATRE. BATTLE DYING DOWN. LOCAL OPERATIONS CONTINUE. (By Cable.—Press Association. —Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) (Beater's Telegrams.) LONDON, June 27. An Italian official message states: — "We took 509 prisoners during an operation extending our bridgehead at Capo Silo, on June 2oth." An Austrian official message claims that the Italians unsuccesstully attempted to capture Col do Rosso. They endeavoured to cross in boats near Ponte di Piave, which, wero destroyed. A wireless Austrian official message says: — ""Thrusts on the Zugna ridge ended in a complete Italian failure, which was most perceptible in tho disputed regions of Asolone and Monte Pertica. "Our detachments pursuing the enemy captured several sectors of his front line. "All the Italian efforts to recapture the ground lost on June 15th sanguinarily failed." GERMAN TROOPS ARRIVE. WASHINGTON, Juno 26. Official advices from Rome say that German reinforcements. from France have arrived on tho Italian front in tho mountain region. President Wilson, in a message of congratulation to General Diaz, states: —"The whole spirit of America acclaims tho Italian achievement, and feels that a great blow has been struck for the liberties not only of Italy, but of the world."
