PARCELS FOR PRISONERS OF WAR.
TO TUB EDITOR OF "THE PRESS." Sir, —In your report of the executive meeting of tlio Bed Cross Society, in reply to a question tho chairman is reported to have said: "That no ono could send any food to tho prisoners of war, military, naval, or civil, except through tho Red Cross." In a circular-letter from the UnderSecretary of Internal Affairs, we, as £ patriotic society, were asked to send, addressed to the High Commissioner, London, comforts for the prisoners of war, especially tinned meats and condensed milk. Evidently the same circular as was forwarded to the Reef Cross Society. For two or three years past -we have, at regular intervals, ported parcels to all our prisoners of war, and at the present moment have eases ready, and receive subscriptions from our branches for. this purpose, and in due course the cases wifi be forwarded by us direct to the High Commissioner, to be dealt' with in terms of the special request. As many of our friends and branches are interested in these parcels, would you kindly publish tho above, as they may not quite understand die exact position.—'Yours, etc., , J. HOLLAND, President, Lady Liverpool Fund. Christchurch, March 22nd.
