THE WAIRUNA'S CREW.
PROVISION FOR DEPENDANTS. (press association telegram.) DTJNEDIN, March 22. The Minister of Marino, the Hon. T M. Wilford, had an important question before him to-day. c 0^ ern "J| the dependants of tho Wairuna, the men now being interned in Germanj. Two days ago information as to tne internment appeared in the cables, and the «ster at once looked into the position in the tor^Vl Jrdmet Mr the men. Yesterday Mr VVilford met Mx Aiken General Manager of to? Union Oompanv, and arranged with him that the company shall provisional Davments to dependants. Mr Aiken states that he will at once instruct the branches throughout NewZealand to investigate claims, and pay where necessary. This procedure will do away with any hardships which miclit easily arise during "the penod which must lapse until application forms for assistance are properly signed and arrive iri~!ftew Zealand. Mr Wilford, speaking to a reporter, said: I may state for the comfort of the relatives of those interned, that the Union Company has arranged with its London office to send weekly parcels to the interned men, as well as small allowances of cash. I think this will meet the difficuty in the interests of the men and of their dependants without any delay.
