[j "The other day I ventured to make t all analysis of three species of tobacco which had cost me fronr'ltfs to 2os per pound. 1 found them to consist of cabpage leaves and. stalks, egg shells, straw, scraps of indiarubber, plaster ot Paris, horsehair, string, felt, gooseplucking, iind other indefinable substances. Of actual tobacco the mixture contained less than 1 per ccnt. "If it bo the object of the authorities to kill off tie smokers among German/ populations they can do no better than to allow this filthy stuff to-bo sold as it L is now as 'fragrant' war smoking, mtxture."
