OBITUARY.
Mr Alex. Balfour'Mercer, who died a few davs ago at his residence, Canongat? street,* Dunedin. aged 0.1 vears, was a ton cf the lnte Mr Andrew Mercer, who arrived in tlio ship Philip Laing in IS4S, and was flavor of Dunedin in the early da vs. The dccessed was an office-bearer in St. Andrew's Church. He is survive 1 by one son and ;ix daughters, and there are three brothers resident in Dunedin — Mr Robert Mercer (registrar of electors Dunedin South). Mr Hcc.tor Mercer (of Mercer and Mitclioll), and Mr Jolin Mercer <Mornington>. His wife died about two vears ago. A Greyniouth telegram states that Mr WiHianrilvan, who liad been connected with the Greyniouth l''ire Brigade, latterly as superintendent, for thiity years, died yesterday.
