FOOTBALL.

OLD BOYS' CLUB. Tho annual meeting of the Christehurch Hirn School Old Boys' Football C.uij was held last evening Mr R. E. Boag presiding over a good, attendance. The annual report stated that dming the 3917 season, the senior toam liad won 3 and lost 7of its matches. The junior team had won all its matches, and ttie competition. The standard of play in the senior competition had not been up to past performances, but changes in the team nad had much to do with the dislocation oi tho combination. The play of the junior tej(im had, however, been in direct contrast to that of the seniors. Various other matters of interest to tho club were mentioned in -the report, in moving the adoption of which tho chairman remarked that so far well over 70U Old Boys were at tho front, the actual Roll of Honour, "referring to Old Bovs who had lost their live 3, being very higli. The recommendations of the executive of the Canterbury Rugby Union Committee as to the coming seasons competitions were discussed, a.nd eventually the matter was left in the hands of the delegates to the annual meeting of tho Union. Tho dato of the opening of tho Benson ■was left to tho General Committee. LINWOOD CLUB. Tho thirty-first annual general meeting of the Linwood Football Club was held last evening, Mr F. D. Kesteven presiding. A motion of deepest sympathy with the relatives of members who have fallen at the front was carried. The report and balance-sheet (already published) were adopted. AVith regard to the Rugby Union Committee's proposals for the coming season, tho club's delegates given a free hand in regard to the competitions question, and instructed to support tho scheme' for tho classification of tho schools to bo attached to cach club. Messrs E. Ewert, E. Johnston, C. Evans, and J. Harvey v.ere elected life members of the club. Selectors wero appointed as follows: — Senior grade, Mr LL Mcintosh; second grade, Mr H. Wilson, . MERIVALE CLUB. The 36th annual meeting of the Merivale Football Club was held last evening Mr P. Menziee, vice-president, presiding over a. good attendance of members A motion of sympathy -with tho relatives of the fallen was carried in silence. Tho proposals of tho committee of the Canterbury Rugby Union regarding this season's competitions were agreed to. wit n a suggestion that 'an age limit should be fixed for the third grade competition.

SYDENHAM 'CLUB. Tho 36th annual meeting ot the Sydenham Football Club was. held last night, ilr Cr. E. Good presiding. The report, which was adopted, fitted that the financial position of the club had been fairly well maintained considering the adverse -time, ana while, from a lootball point of view, nothing of importance had been attained, it was hopsd that, with a gradual increase in the playing membership, matters would eventually again bicome normal in the club's sphere of action on tho held. Tho special incentive to membership offered by the committee to young players resulted in tho lurther election ol some 21 members, making the clubs total ship for the year 155. Of this number 22 were life members. 40 were retained on tliß roll as serving with tho Expeditionary Forces or in camp, 13 were tree junior _ members, and 80 were ordinary and Honorary subscribing members. Nine moro more members had joined tho since last annual meeting. It was witii the deepest regret that the committee had to record another four ot their comrades among those who had made the supreme sacrifice, namely, F. Clements, I'. Booth, C. Johnstou, and G Wilson, all well-known and trusted members of the club. During the vear they had welcomed home H. Ball, H. Davis, and E. R.
