PIGEON RACING.
The Canterbury Fiyintr Club flew a race for young birds from Culverden. The weather being favourable tho returns were good, the winning bird, the property of Mr D. Dore, flying the distance of 56 miles 3265 yards in 2hrs 3sec. The competitors numbered 168 *" r i and the following is tho order in which the leaders were placed, with velocitv per : —Mr D. Dora's No. BS, 831 yds; Mr *"• Terry's Waimate, 630 yds; Mr F. Kingsford's Moris Van, 830 yds; Mr W. Hewitt's Ao. ISO, 829 yds; Mr E. Fuchs't White Plume, 816 yds; Mr F. Wilson's No. 56, 814 yds; Mr F. Kibble white's No. 121, 812 yds; Mr T. Aewton's No. 138, 811 yds; Mr R. Ashworth's l-i Sllyda; Mr J. Shipton's Hourless, 810yde; Mr C. Shaw's No. SOI, 809 yds; Mr 11. Browning's No. 35, 773vds; Mr A. Gerard's No. 191, 673 yds; Mr S. Smith's No. 401, C69yds; Mr H. Pearson's No. 94. 564 yds. ,?• Finnojtsn, W. Cummin?*, and C. Bilcliff also competed, but clock troubles spoiled their chances of being placed.
