DRAINAGE BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The Drainage Board met last night. Present— Messrs W. Hill (chairman 1 ), H. Holland, H. Lansjford, W. J. Walter, S. A. Staples, H. J, "Otley, and Chas. Hill. Tho Engineer's report, which was agreed to, 6tatctl that tho inverting of Horner's Branch drain had been completed. Tho Board was recommended to take over a drain running:' through 3lr Button's property at Bnrwood, provided that he put it in order The Pumping Station engineer reported that during February 519,412 tons were pumped to tho farm, an increase, compared with February, 1917, of 18,111 tons. Jfr T. Tomlinson reported as follows on trade effluents into the Ueathcote river:—"l havo visited Woolaton five times during the present mouth. The effluents from tho works varied considerably in quality. The catch pits liav® been regularly cleaned, and I fear no further standard of puritr ran bo obtained under the present system. Tho above also applies to Mr Hobson. On my last visit to Mr Robson's works I found a dec,) hole ecourcd out in tho river at tho dischargo of the effluent pipe, owing to the sliiicc gat© being raised too high. Mr Robson, jun., promised to remedy this." The report was received. Tho managing director of (ho New Zealand Glue Company wrote correcting a wrong impression that his company had stood out of ike recent conference between tho Board and the Woolston industries; Mr C. M .Ollivier had represented tho company.—Received.
