THE SIBERIAN ] PROBLEM. * EXTENSIVE GERMAN PREPARATIONS. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Reuter's Telegrams.) (Received March 18th, 11.30 p.m.) TOKIO, March 17. Telegrams from reliable quarters describe the German preparations at Irkutsk and elsewhere in Siberia. A formation of two army corps and two cavalry corps, composed of German and Austrian prisoners of war, with 130 German officers, have arrived at Irkutsk, while others, disguised, are. pouring in. Field guns and armoured cars are being transported from European Russia. BRUSH WITH THE BOLSHEVIKS. ("The Times.") (Received March 18th, 11.30 p.m.) TOKIO, March 17. A thousand volunteers, including a few Japanese, fought and defeated a raiding Bolshevik force at Blagovesensk. The sensational early report that 150 Japanese had been murdered vas unfounded. The actual losses wero une killed and eight missing. JAPANESE WITHDRAWAL. (United Service.) (Received March 18th, 11.30 p.m.) LONDON, March 17. The "Daily Mail's" Tientsin correspondent states that Japanese arriving at Harbin from Siberia state that their Government has ordered their withdrawal as the situation might necessitate military intervention.
