CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. \ X The tenth and final round of grade matches for-the present season was resumed on Saturdiy in fine weather. Thero was a large attendance of spectators to witness the deciding earn© between the two teams, Linwood ard Sydenham. Tho round will bo concluded next Saturday, when the aeaaon will cad. Results: — LIXWOOD v. SYDENHAM. Considerable interest was taken in this ' came m it will practically decide the chamSip for the season. The previous Saturday had given Linwood a strong position, as they had scored 196 and then dumiued « »}, c strongest Sydenham men for 4a. Riecartou had the substantial ecore of 260 to' face, and notwithstanding a good eighth wicket stand by Fuller and Byrne, who added 70, the side had a first innings deficit of 43. Perrin bowled best for Linwood, getting seven for 42, whilst for School Brown got six for 47. West Christohurch, facing a total of 428, made by St. Albans A, were all out for 110 (Walker 31, Beard 15, Dey 13, Marshall 10), and following on made 109 (Fitzgerald 30, Walker 19, Talbot 19, Beard 13, Dey 12). In tho first innings Dunstan got three for 31, Edgar three for 39, and Mottram two for 16, and in the second innings Barrett got four for 39 and Page threo for 45. Sydenham, who had scored 55 for one wicket in response to St. Albans B's 138, carried their total to 208 (G. Merriman 62, Mayo 62, McCracken 29, Firth 21, Patrick 13, Aehby 11). St. Albans in their second innings scored 151 for six wickets (Jackman 3G, Lewis 63 not out, Walter 19, Graham 12). For Sydenhsmi Mayo got four wickets for 21, and for St. Albans Duff bowled splendidly, getting five for 17, Playing against Riccarton, Christ'® College B made 214 and 248 (Norton 51, Souper 48, Leckie 41). Riccarton ran up 349 in their first innings (Wise .140, Holland 66, Evans 45, Unwin 33). Riccarton's sccond innings reoJised 91 for one wicket." Technical' made 169 and 73 (Richards 12, Saunders 12), while College ran up 121 and 152 for five wickets (Gould 52, Straohan 41, Whyto not out 25, Talbot not out 24). Blunt and Wileon bowled best for the winners. 1 THIRD GRADE. Sydenham beat St. Bede's by 44 runs on the first innings. Scores:—Sydenham 186 (Mather 133, O'Neill 19, Fraser 11). St. Bede's 142 (Mahoney 72, Handisidcs 23, Kingan 12, Barrett 10)., For Sydenham O'Neill got five wickets for 37, and for St. Bede's Ashton and Mahoney bowled best. Technical College B beat Riccarton by 50 runs on the first inning. Scores:—Technical 94 (Mitchell 18, Barnes 18, Hitchings' 17, and Falloon 10). . Riccarton 44 (D. McJienzio 16 not out). West Christchurch District High School de--1 faulted to West Chmtohurch. t . Technical College beat St. Albans by 171 runs on tho first innings. Scores:—Tecii- , nical 186 (Palmer 74, Hearfield 45, Smith 23, Stuart 13). St. Albans 15 and 27 for five wickets. For Technical Calvert got four wickets for 9, and Wilson two for- 6. Green and Palmer bowled best for St. Albans. Christ's College defeated Boys' High School by an innings and 67 runs. Scores .-—College 146 (Thompson 63, Crossley 24, Reeves 21). B.H.S. 62 (Burrows 19, Jacobs 18) and 1?! Crossley and Hindmarsh for College and j Bowes for B.H.S. bowled best.
CITY AND SUBURBAN ASSOCIATION. SECOND G-RADE. Tho tenth round of the City and Suburban Association's junior matciica was concluded on Saturday. Wards, Bible Class, and Boys' Gordon Hall aro level tor first place, tri& laat-named having one match to go, and Biblo Class two matches, while Ward's have tho bye Belfast aro one point behind the leaders, and meet Bible Class nest week; The following are the results or Saturday's play:— The match between Ward's and Belfast ended in a win lor Ward's by 7 wicket 3. Scores:—Belfast 03 and 139 (Jones 33, Wilson yy, Sellers 23, IJ.1 J . Brown ill, A. Brown 15). Ward's 214 and 22 for 4 wickets (Weston b7 not out, Smyiho 37, Hutchings 21, Blood 22). McArtnur, 8 for 80, lor Belfast, and Weston, (i lor 28, and Smythe, 4 for 19, for Wards bowled well. Bible Class met St. Albans, at Sydenham PaTk, and won-~by six wickets. Scores: — St. Albans 51 ana 170 (D. Buchanan '30, E. Buchanan 20, R. Winter 27, Aruott 24, Felton 21). Bible Clas3 142 and 87 tor 3 wickets (Burns 40, White 2!3, Hamilton 12 not out). Green's defeated Oddfellows by 97 runs. Scores: —Green's 199 and 175 for nine wickets (declared) (Sanlers 45, Hill 40, Tillyshort 16, E. Jackson 12). Oddfellows 174 and 103 (Gray 57, Martin 18, Newell 12 not out). Richards and Purdom bowled well for Oddfellows. Druids defeated Templeton by 170 run 3 on tho first innings. Scores:—Druids 215, Templeton 84 (i\ Kent, 37, Bush 31), and 203 (Finlay 72, F. Kent 37, Watson 34, Bush 25, P. Kent 18). Boys' Gordon 'Hall defeated Woolston by default. OTAGO v. SOUTHLAND. (PKESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) DUXEDIX, March 16. A match between Otago and Southland was commenced at the Carisbrook ground this morning in fine but dull weather. The home t«am batted first and made 313, ilcilullen being top scorer with 157 not out. Galland made. 47. Southland eoorcd 85 for two wickets (Gleeson not out 38, Poole 22).
