♦ —— . CONFERENCE OF INSTRUCTORS. It .has long been felt amongst those who keep themselves proficient in practical lifesaving work that 'in the promotion of •warmth in an apparently drowned body the Society's methods are neither complete nor definite enough. It is earnestly hoped that all those interested in bringing about an improvement in this particular will attend the meeting at the Tepid Baths on Wednesday next. The chief hon. instructor, Mr J. Wyn Irwin, will hold a conference of examiners and instructors, and all others interested. Headmasters are reminded that the competition for the Sir John Hall Shield will take place on the 27th inst. SUMNER CLUB. A meeting of the committee of the Sum- ! ner Life-Saving and Surf-Bathing Club was held on Thursday evening, when Mr H. Buttle presided. . , , , Correspondence was received from toe Taylor's Mistake Club, stating that the president, Mir F. D. Keeteven, had offered a cup for competition on Taylors Mistake beach. The captain reported having prepared a team to take part in the contest. It was decided not to enter any candidates at present for the "surf test. ~ _ , It was agreed to meet representatives of the Canterbury Surf Association in conference on March 26th at Sumner. It was decided to ciose tbe season on E-ster Monday, and the following sub-com-mittee was appointed to make arrangements —Messrs R. Mitchell, A. C. O. Allen. H. W. j Heslop, and W. J. Sergison.
