At 10.18 last nigjht the Fire Brigade received a call to Xo. 11 Caledonian road, an occupied six-roomed dwelling, owned by Mr Black, of 136 Fitzgerald street. iYn outbreak of fire had occurred in tlie Toof, but it was quickly extinguished. The insurances, if "any, were not available last night.
;rR£SS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) MAXAKAU, March 14. Late oil Tuesday night a fire was discovered behind the Methodist Church, which defied all efforts to extinguish jt. It was decided to burst open the front doors and save the organ, but after entering the building it was found impossible'to save anything owing to the rapid spread of the flames. which speedily demolished everything. The church was insured, but the loss to tho trustees will be heavy. Incendiarism is suspected. Fortunately there was an absence of wind" otherwise the Manakau cheese factory would almost certainly have been destroyed.
