RED TRIANGLE DAY.
THE Y.M.C.A. APPEAL. The culmination of the Bed Triangle campaign in aid of the -work of the Y.M.C.A. amongst the soldiers in the trenches, is to take place to-day, -when Red Triangle Day is to be marked l>y a direct appeal to the patriotism, generosity, and feelings of appreciation for the efforts of the Y.M.C.A. to make the lot of our boys at the front as tolerable and as happy as circumstances will permit. To-day's street collection provides an opportunity for those who can only afford a mite to "do their bit." in helping forward the excellent work of ihe Y.M.C.A. The honour of th" city is also at stake. Cliristchurch has been called upon to provide £15,000, anil other cities in thr> Dominion have also boen called upon to contribute their quotas. Reports from tlie other ccntrcs indicate that, they will not be found wanting; and it will not do for Cliristchurch to fall short in its ondoavour. " The lady collcctors, who will be under the direction of Mr C'. .J. Treleaven, will be. supplied with Red Triangle buttons of two kinds —enamel ones to bo rrjven 1o contributors of 10s and over, and celluloid ones for those contributing lofS than 10s. An endeavour will be made to obtain at least- one shilling for each of the celluloid buttons. Mr C. M. Ollivier, chairman of tho Citizens' Campaign Committee, states that the smaller contributions aro coming in well, showing that all sections of the community recognise and anoreciat'o the manner in which the Y.M.C.A. has tackled and succeeded with its big job.
ADDITIONAL SUBSCRIPTIONS, The following additional donations are gratefully acknowledged by tho Citizens' Committee: —
