OPIUM SMUGGLERS.

SENSATION IN SYDNEY. (By Cable.—Press Association.—copjright.) (Received March 14th. 8.40 p.m.) SYDNEY, March 14. Acting on information that it was intended to smuggle opium from a ?es- ! sol in Mort's Dock, two hidden policemen saw two men land two heavy - bags, supposedly containing £3000 worth of opium, and convoy them to a waiting motor-car which immediately started off. The police attempted to stop the men and emptied their revolvers at the flying car. Other policemen stationed farther along made similar unavailing efforts. Later the car, with four bullet holes in various parts, was found abandoned, but there was no traco of . the opium.
