MARIS! BROTHERS' OLD BOYS' CLUB. The seventh annual general meeting of tho Maris: Brother* Old Boys' Football Club was • bold last evening, Broiner Palladium presidios over u good attendance. ill© unriLi.il report congratulated the senior Um upon securing second placo in tho Canterbury Rugby Union's senior competition. ■ M«mf>Ers ct the club who had made the taprcme sacrifice duringnhe year in defence of Kin" and country wore:—l!. Evans, the Donohue boys, H. Murlitt, T. Croniu, and B. Birmingham. A tribute was paid to tho kindness and generosity to the club of the lady Hibernians of St. Matthew s Branch, and in recognition of such the committee decided to present them with an Honours Board, tho presentation being made at a. social function last August. In order to parpetuato the memory of the members of tho Association and old boys of the school who had gone forth to answer tho call of duty, the committee considered that an effort should be made to erect an Honours Board in the school. In order to accomplish this . object between £10 and £50 was required, and it was hoped that when the collcctors can-j vassed for donations a generous, response j would be made. . , The balance-sheet showed receipts £39 13s > lOcl, expenditure £36 3a 6d, assets £9 6s, and . liabilities nil. , The report and balancc-shcet were adopted. The chairman stated that tliey only required to keep together for a couple of years, when they would have their old club rooms n«ain, as-Bishop Brodio intended building - n" new school, and no difficulty should be experienced in securing club rooms in the building for tho Association. The following officers were elected:—Patron, Bishop Brodio; president. Sir Geo. Clifford; chairman and club captain, Bro. Pall ad iu s; deputy club captain, Mr J. C. Mullins; hon. secretary, Mr P. Gieenlees; treasurer, Mr Geo. Dobbk; committee, Messrs Fitzgerald, T. Gee, B. Flood, McCormack, and J. McQuillan; hon. auditors, Bro. Palladium and Mr M. Garty; delegates to the Canterbury Rugby Union, Messrs Dob be and Grecnlees," Bro. Palladius, and Mr McCormack. • It was dccidod to open the' season on' Saturday, March 23rd.
ADDINGTON league club. The eisth animal meeting of the Addington I League Club was held on Wednesday, Mr M.CCuliougli presiding. The meeting was adjourned for a low minutes aa a mark of respect to members tyho had been killed in act-ion. . The report disclosed a very successful season, tho second grado team having won •the 3?iag .competition, and the fourth grade team tho Banner competition, whilst a double 6UCCCS3 hod boen secured in tho seven-a-«ide tournament. Nineteen members had nJiflted with the Expeditionary Forces, of whom three had 'made the supremo saorifice. The balanco-aheet showed a balance of .£9, with 110 liabilities. ,V>\LINWOOD LEAGUE CLUB. jhe sixth, annual general meeting of flie Linwood Lcigue Cluu was held on Wednesday,' Mr A. E. Hooper presiding. Ai a tribute of respeel to members vWho hnve been killed in action, tho meeting temporarily adjourned, the chairman •stating'that the country, relatives, and olub regTetUd the loss of some fine fellows. The report showed that though tho club bad-not been successful in. any of the- competitions, the younger members had to fill the vacancies of forty-two members. on active service, of whom three had been killed in action, and fifteen wounded. Tho committee urged tho younger members to unite ■ and carry on until the return of tho senior players from tho war. The balance-sheet disclosed a credit of £3, and no liabilities.
