Statements have from time to timo lieon mado regarding the largo percentage of recruits who, upon examination, have been found to bo suffering from venereal disease. With the object of ascertaining the true position a return is being made out and the figures show that tho percentage is extremely low Uvs the "New Zealand Times"). Each recruit when he gpes before a district Medical Board is carefully examined, sintes the military authorities, And when case of venereal disease is discovered Lho particulars are noted, and tho recruit is isolated. Sinco the several district Medical Boards have been appointed 71,177 recruit® have been examined. Of that total 226 were found to be suffering from a venereal diseaso representing -32 per cent, of ti;e aggregate number examined. The figures represent the nranbor of recruits examined by the district Medical Boards up to tho conclusion of the first ballot
