LARGER ENTRIES. (RT OCR COMMERCIAL EDITOR.) There were larger .entries of stock in almost all departments, but the attendance was not quite so numerous as last week. There was a firm sale for all useful classes of store sheep, but the demand was not kegn for backward sorts. The yarding included drafts from the North Island and Marlborough- Fat lambs -were very firm, exporters' prices averaging Bld per lb over ail. There was also a good sale for fat sheep, exporters operating freely. There was a more even sale for fat cattle, and prices were generally above export level, only a few head being aeeured by freezing buyers. There was a good sa!o for the mouei ate class of store cattle offered. Fat pigs sold well, but stores were easier on accountof tlie large entry. fsTOR i*. SHEEP. There was a heavy yarding of store sheep, the bulk of which were ewes, and 'included consignments the Xonli Island and Marlborough. There na" practically 110 changc in prices fiom the previous week's rates, all useful lines selling well, but backward sorts were slacker in demand. The range of prices was: — Two-tooth ewes, 3!)s to 40s 9d. Four-tooth ewes, 30s to 31s 3d. Six and eight-tooth ewes, 21s 9d to 3!s. Sound-mouth ewes, 25s -VI to 335. Two and four-tooth wet-here, 2is 9d to 30s !)d. Ewe lambs. 20» to 26s sd. Wether lambs, 13s 3d to 20s 9d. FAT LAMBS. There was a yarding of 33-34, or 1000 more than last week. The quality was generally prime, several pens being extra good. The demand for export was firm, and prices wore equal to B£d per lb over all. The range of prices was: — J'lxtra prime lambs to 33s 3d. A few special, 40s 6d. Prime lambs, 27s to 30s Gd. FAT SHEEP. There was a large yarding of fat sheep, the offerings filling nine races. There were some pens of extra prime qualitv, and the general run was good to prime. Wethers formed the bulk of the offerings. There was a keen demand, exporters operating and prices were firm throughout, lna range of priccs was:— / Extra prime wethers, to '43s 3d. FAT CATTLE. The yarding of l'at cattle was larger than the previous ivoek, and alt hough the major portion was cows and heifers, there was a better proportion of steers than at the previous sale, fho quality was generally good, and a lew lines "were very prime. The market was firm and more even than last wook, and exporters were able; to do very little business, as prices generally were beyond their limits. The range oi' prices was: — Extra prime steers to £21 10s. Prime steers, £17 to £'19 10s. Ordinary steers, £12 5s to .£l6 15s. Prime heifers, £11 5s to £18 ss.' Ordinary heifers, £i) 2s 6d to £13. There was a good entry of dairy cows, including a large proportion of hoifers. TIIO sale was not quite equal to that of last week, the top price for springers boing £18 10s. PIGS. There was a medium entry of pigs, chiefly chojjpers and baconers, porkers being' scarce. There was no change in prices. There was a large entry of store pigs, the offerings being more j numerous than for some time past. Prices were consequently easier. The range of prices was re follows: — Choppers, £3 to £r. Extra heavy baconers to £6 12s. Heavy baconers, £5 10s to £6. Lighter baconers, £4 10s to £5 ss. Equal to 7Jd to 8d per lb. Heavy porkers, £3 los to £4. Lighter porkers, £2 17s to £3 10s. Equal to to IOJd per lb. Large stores, £2 15s to £3. Medium stores, £2 8s to £2 12s. Smaller, 27s to 355. ' Weaners, 16s 6d to 255.
