"Our northward advance astride the Jerusalem-Nablus road was continued through most difficult country, and in the face of an obstinate resistance, the enemy employing numerous concealed machine-guns

"We progressed 3000 yards an a 12 miles front, securing high ridgeß overlooking tho north bank of Jib. "We repulsed three counter-attacks, and are consolidating our new line I northward of tho Wadi-el-Auja. "Our aeroplanes bombed and ma-chine-gunned onemy troops and a transport on the Nablus road. "The operations continue." Another Palestine official report states:— "Our advance northward continues. Yesterday we crossed the Wadi-el-Auja and captured a strong Turkish position five miles westward of the Jordan. "We advanced on either side of the Jerusalem-Nablus road on a front of 13 miles to an average dep£h of from two to three miles. "We occupied Kefrmalik, Selwad, and Telasus, eastward of the road. Wo encountered little opposition westward of the road."

IN MESOPOTAMIA. ADVANCE OF 22 MILES. (Australian and N.Z, C&blo Association.) (Router's Telegrams.) (Received March 12th, 8 p.m.) LONDON. March 11. A Mesopotamia official report states: — "The Hit garrison continued its retirement. "We occupied Khan Baghdadi, 22 miles above Hit. "Our aircraft attacked the retreating Turks, and inflicted heavy casualties." GERMANY'S POLICY IN THE NEAR EAST. (Reuicr's Telegrams.) (Received March 12th, 8 p.m) AMSTERDAM, March 11. A hint as to Germany's policy in tho Near East was given during the visit of Persian Parliamentarians to Berlin. They were told that after breaking down the Russian barrier above Persia, the Germans honed to breach the British wall to tho southward, and contribute to Persia's prosperity.
