GREATER CHRISTCHURCH.
INCLUSION OF HILLSBOROUGH CITY COUNCIL ACAXDONS OBJECTION. Upon the motion of Cr. Sullivan, tlio City Council, last evening, by 8 votes to 0, decided to remove the objections which it had made to the inclusion of the district of Hillsborough in the city area. Cr. Sullivan pointed out that though the estimated cost of putting the strests in order was £8285. the residents did not expect for one moment to have any large sum expended in the district, and it had been pointed out to them that they would have to raise a special loan if they wanted any work | carried out. The By-laws and Finance Committoo reported to the Council that it bad obtained the following particulars regarding the portion of Hillsborough proposed to be included in the city:— Estimated population .. 270 ™ . . , .
