VICTORIA LEAGUE.

THE COMING CONFERENCE. A conference of the Victoria League of New Zealand will be held in the Provincial Council Hall, Cliristchurch, on Thursday, beginning at 10.30 a.m. Tho general purpose of the conference will be to consider the present position of the work in which the different branches of tho League are engaged. Delegates havo been invited from.all the branches of the in New Zealand, and the following have signified their intention of attending:—Mr and Mrs Napier, Miss Mowbray, Miss Amy Holland, and Mr Crowther (Auckland); Miss Coates, Mrs Louis Blundell, Mrs Chatfield, and Mrs Grey (Wellington) ; Mrs Fergus, Mrs Chalmer, and Miss Jackson (Dunedin); Mrs Walter Barker (Gisborne); and Mrs Anderson (Wanganui). It is also expected that Oamaru will send a delegate, and that Mrs Murdoch Anderson (South Africa) will be presen^. Among tho subjects which will come up for discussion at tho conference will be the question of co-operation with several branches for the furtherance of their common work or for any particular project. An interesting programme has been mapped out for the delegates. Tomorrow night an official reception will be given by Mrs J. H. Hall, when members of tho committee will be invited to meet the visitors. Thursday will be occupied with the conference, with an interval for luncheon, and in the evening tho committee is asking that all members of the League shall visit tho Society of Arts Exhibition, to have a further opportunity of meeting the delegates who aro to be entertained there on that evening. The conference is expected to close on Friday morning, and in tho afternoon there will be an afternoon tea, whilo in the evening, at .8 o'clock, the League's annual meeting and conversazione will take place at Te Wharc. Saturday will be taken up with a motor picnic. The festivities will terminate on Monday morning with a morning tea, given by Mrs Carey-Hill, at Clifton, Sumner.
