SWEET REASONABLENESS
AOREEMF-NT IN FUttXITURK TRADES' DISPUTK. A complete agreement w;is announced «in the Arbitration Court at Wcllingtou on Saturday in regard 'to the United Furniture Trade "Workers' dispute. Mr W. A. Grenfell, wlio appeared for the employers, stated that the agreement-, which tho Court ratified would have effect throughout the Dominion, and it had been arranged that it should come into force everywhere on. June Ist. The President of the Court (Mr Justice Stringer) congratulated the parties on the fact that a complete agreement was arrived at before coming to the Court. It. indicated that there was a spirit of sweet- reasonableness among workors in the furniture trade and their employers. If the same reasonableness prevailed in other trades, the Court would be saved a great deal of trouble, and perhaps there would be a greater measure of satisfaction all round. Mr D. 11. Kennedy, for the union, said that' the parties recognised that the Court's time was precious. Instead' of quibbling over minor points, a spirit of reasonableness was shown on both sides, and as a result an amicable settlement was arrived at.
