THE BOY SCOUTS

FULLER FLAG COMPETITION. A great deal of interest waa taken in the Fuller Flag Competition for Boy Scout patrols, which took place in the Sydenham Park oil Saturday afternoon, and there was a large crowd in attendance to watch the proceedings, which were interesting. Tha Fuller Flag- was presented to the Sydenham Boy Scout.* by Mr Walter Fuller in recognition of tho good work done, by tile boys cf that patrol at the fire at His Majesty's Theatre. Lieut.-Col. Cossgrove, Y.D., Dominion Chief Scout, was in attendance at the parade, and about two hundred Scouts turned out, the Sydenham troop's band playing eome of the Scouts to the ground. Tho referee of the competition was Superintendent Warner, of the Christchurch Fire Brigade. and the judge's were Superintendent Barnbery, superintendent of the Christchurch Railway Brigade, Scoutmaster Schwartz, Messrs B. Burns and B. Gunn. Eight teams of five each competed in the event, which consisted in the iirst part of running out two 50it lengths of hose, connecting hydrant, and fixing branch; and secondly, of lifting a supposed asphyxiated subject." carrying him five yards, and then resuscitating him. The work was very well done by the first rivo teams, but three others were disqualified for lack of knowledge, and or.e did not compete. The times it: the Fire Brigade event wero as follows: — Time.
