FLOWER SHOW.
RAKAIA. The Autumn Show of the Rakaia Horticultural Society was held in the Town Hall yos- I terday. The day was fin©, and a large number of people visited the show both afternoon and evening. The entries numbered 350, being a few less than last year. There was a falling off in the number of blooms shown, an unusual number of classes having no entries whatever, but tho vegetable eection was very well filled. Prominent imong the prize-winners were Messrs L. Saunders, R. Breach, and H. J. Harrison. Tho dahlias shown by Mr R. Breach were particularly fine. For exhibition purposes only some fine displays of cut flowers were made by the Hon. O. A. C. Hardy, Mrs Holmes, and Mr R. Nairn. In the vegetable section there were numerous entries in the potato classes, but many of the tubers showed signs of I disease. This year no opening ceremony was held. The refr" "hment booth was iu the hands of tho Red Cross ladies. Tho judges wore: —Fruit and flowers, Mr R. Nairn; miscellaneous section, Mrs McDowell.
