» ANNUAL MEETING* The forty-third annual meeting of the Ashburton Permanent .Building and Investment Society was held on Monday night, Mr Joshua Tucker, chairman of directors, presiding over a good attendance of shareholders. . The directors, in their report, seated tb&» the net result of the past year's operations had exceeded the record made during the year ended January 31st, 1917. The amount to the credit of the Society stood at £2251 2« 6d, and the directors recommended that it should be dealt with *a under:—3 per cent, profit on *'A" capital shares, 2 per cent, profit on "B" shiKfi, £&42 2s 7di 5 per oent. interest on fluctuation _ of securities and contingencies account, £500; 'write off furniture aocount, £27; donation to Km Cress Society, £50; donation «to 1.M.0.A. Trench Comfort Fund, £50; to carry forward, £512 6s lid. The principal items in the balance-sheet showed: —Band balance,£l2,l9l 13» Id; cash on hand, £100; subscriptions, £4644 15s; redemption of loans, £1105 Gs 9d; interest, £11,977 0s 6d; deposits received £111,327 3s lOd; Savings Bank deposits, £194 384 9* s<l; entrance loes, working exnen«es etc., £260 13s; duty, stamps, £7o 12s premium "B" ehares, £68 10s; premium "A" capital ehares, £100; "A" capital sWs, £500; Taocicd street jf 1 0 ; insurance repaid by clients, _31 19s 3d- u _ the expenditure side tho chief jtemo rc - N T ew loans, £34,020; "B shares paid out, paid on £15,000 A capiwu, .
