6 . WOOLSTON. A meeting of the Woolston Borough Council was held last night. Present: The Mayor (Mr McGregor Wright), and Crs. T. Radcliifo, L. Hart, J. C. Hobson, D. Mcßae, G. W. AVliiteJ li. H. Borrows, and T. Champ. The financial statement showed that the debit bank balance was £238 4s, while temporary loans stood at £6/8 J.tie id. The Manawa'tu County Council wiuto forwarding a resolution passed by it regarding tho extra motor tranic tnrown on tUu roads by the suspension of special raoo trains, with the consequent increased cost of road maintenance to be borne by local bodies. The letter was received. SUMNER. The Sumner Borough Council met last night. Present: The Mayor (Hon. John Barx, M.L.C.), Crs. H. C. Jamjeson i It, Picrcy, T. Whitfield, W. J. jjawson, T.Dryburgh, A. Senior, J. H. Gibbs, and C. Benjamin. The Young Mon'a Bible Class Union wrote thanking the Council for granting them ihe uso of St. Leonard's squajre for the £ aster camp. It was decided to gTant the applications of the Senior Cadets and Red Cross Committee fox tho use of the Town Hall. The Auckland City Council wrote asking for support in connexion with a resolution regarding the retention of Samoa. Tho letter was received, the Mayor remarking that the Council did not interfere in politics. The Tramway Board wrote offering to asphalt the Redcliffs stopping-plaoo on the terms suggested. The ofier was accepted. Mr F. Barlow's application for clay to form a road on tho hisplanade was declined. The Works Committee reported that tho cleaning of the main sower from the Grafton street septic tank to the outlet had been completed with satisfactory results. Part of the footpath below Clifton tcrraoe had been kerbed. The work of straightening Head street was well in hand, and would soon bo completed. The report was adopted. It was decided to carry out minor alterations to the Town. Hall. It was agreed to decline Mr Hobday's offer of land for a road on Mount Pleasant nulffw it runs clean through from Mount Pleasant road to Major Hornbrook's road. The question of horses wandering on the roads was brought up by Cr. Dryburgh, and it was dccided to take steps to stop the nuisance.
