HEAYY SEAS.

DAMAGE AT NAPIER. (press association telegham.) NAPIER, March 4. One of the heaviest seas known here is at present running. Considerable damage has been done to various works at Port Ahuriri. The Araliura and Navua are unable to come alongside the breakwater. Sea-water found its way into warehouses at the port, huge waves sending water over the seafront. Several smaller vessels have been knocked about. Richardson and Company's vessel Echo has not been heard of since Friday, and some anxiety is felt for her sarety. It is hoped that she is sheltering off Cape Runaway. COTTAGES WRECKED AT WAIIII. (press association telegram.) "VY'AIHI, March 4. Owing to a disturbance other than local, a tremendous surf was in evidence on the AVaihi beach this morning. At intervals of half an hour it surged up with great force 200 yards above high-water mark. Ten cottages facing tlie sea have been wrecked. Great rollers, shooting up to a tremendous height, make a magnificent spectacle. There has been a very heavy cea running at Sumner during the last two tides, with the result tnat the end staging of the pier has been considerably damaged. The tide was again very high last night.
